“After decades of writing poetry and winning numerous awards, Jan Hetherly has compiled them into this special collection, full of her wit and wisdom. Lucky for us!”
Sandy St. John
“I have never been a lover of poetry, mainly because I couldn’t understand it. However, Jan’s words, plus a thesaurus, have opened my mind and touched on every emotion I have ever felt. Thank you, Jan, for dragging me kicking and screaming, into your world of poetry!”
Sally Horn
“The thought provoking lines that Jan pens in her poetry is just an example of her multifaceted talents. She is an award-winning poet, published illustrator and author, and has a voice gifted by God. I am often left contemplating the meanings in her poetry for days or sometimes it hits me in a flash. Her words speak volumes. It’s no wonder she was awarded a Poet Fellow by Noble House, London, England.”
Debby Weber
Jan Hetherly stumbled into an accidental, yet astonishing journey into the world of international poets. In 2000, Ms. Hetherly was offered an opportunity to increase her knowledge and skills in a year and a half of masters level study, targeting poets with insatiate longings to become versed in the craft of masters. This experience initiated a gripping brush with Villanelles, riveting word games introduced to the common people in mid-17th century France by Jean Passerat. Jan’s fascination reaped her the title The Voice of the Villanelle, (visit her blog www.voiceofthevillanelle.com.)
Jan wrote a booklet entitled Poetry Basically, at the suggestion of her son, Dr. Heath Hetherly, Chief Psychologist for the Veteran’s Hospital in Daytona, Florida. These booklets are to be used to aid soldiers and veterans in journalling moments of war to clear the mind and soul.
In 2006, Jan was awarded a Poet Fellow by Noble House, London, England, and was advised not to take it lightly!
